A 150 -year long story

The national companies of Red Cross and Red Crescent originally created to help the injured or sick soldiers alongside the health services of the armed forces, national companies now carry out numerous activities both in peacetime and in war times as auxiliary of public powers. Based on the principle of universality, all national companies have equal rights and the duty to help each other. The relationship between National Consumer Society is equal and priority, therefore any operation in a foreign country must necessarily have the agreement of the local red or crescent cross.
The seven fundamental principles
Guarantee and guidance of actions are the seven fundamental principles of the International Movement of Red Cross, which constitute its spirit and ethics: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, volunteering, unity and universality. Adopted in the 20th International Conference of the Red Cross, held in Vienna in October 1965, the fundamental principles are guaranteed for the action of the movement, but also of the CRI and every single volunteer.
