Recognize a manic-depressive disorder
In people with a manic depressive disorder, an extremely exhausted mood (the mania) and depression alternate. The fact that these two extremes alternate each other means that the disorder is difficult to recognize. In addition, an exuberant and cheerful period is often not seen as a result of this disorder. Often people themselves do not know that they have this disorder and the environment does not recognize the signals either.
Self -test: What about you?
To ensure a faster recognition of the disorder, GGZ Friesland has developed an app for the smartphone; The ManieCheck . With this free app (also available for iPhone) you can see how things work with you by means of a fill -in questionnaire. The short self-test is intended to confirm or invalidate a suspicion of a manic-depressive disorder within a few minutes.
The test is completely anonymous. Personal data is not requested and no IP addresses are registered or stored. After completing the questionnaire you can send the result of the test via e-mail (for example to yourself), so that you can discuss this with your doctor or psychologist.
Outcome = indication
The app does not make a diagnosis, but gives an indication whether or not you have symptoms of a manic depression. Does the result of the ManieCheck make it clear that something may be going on? Then it is advisable to go to your doctor. Your doctor can help you further and refer to GGZ Friesland for diagnostics. GGZ Friesland has a good treatment method for the manic-depressive disorder.
